Reading, PAMiddle Holdings, LLC, or better known as Lincoln Tower Apartments, is full of historic beauty in the heart of Reading. Step into the lobby and residents are transported back to the Roaring 20’s opulence when the Abraham Lincoln hotel was being built.
Shuman Development Group purchased the hotel in 2013 and restored the property to its original grandeur. Nominated for its architectural significance and art-deco design, the Lincoln Tower Apartments was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.

Today, the Lincoln Tower Apartments features affordable housing on floors 4-18, with financing provided by Community Lenders on the uppermost eight floors. The lower levels through the third floor are used as banquet facilities, retail, and office space.
“As the tallest, privately-owned building in Berks County, it provides an anchor in downtown, and sets a strong example in support of private investment for the rest of the city,” said Alan Shuman, owner of Shuman Development Group, which owns Middle Holdings, LLC.
The one- and two-bedroom apartments showcase high ceilings and expansive windows to enjoy the scenic views of downtown. Units also feature high-efficiency heating and cooling units, a full kitchen, and wall-to-wall carpeting or hardwood flooring in the living room, dining room, and bedrooms.
On-site amenities include state-of-the-art laundry and fitness centers, property management and maintenance offices, and a pharmacy.
